Pinchon's description corresponds to specimens with yellow colour extending on body and base of the forewings.
It is an extreme morph of C. antaeus (Chalumeau F. and
Duranel G., 1986. Nouv. Rev. Entomol. (N.S.) 3:372).

Yellow patch undivided, transparent area extended.
Cocytius duponchel :
Yellow patch deeply divided, transparent area smaller, male with very large claspers.
Biology and distributionLarva on Annonaceae (Annona spp.).
Uncommon in Martinique (Pinchon, d'Aguilar, Delplanque, Ryckewaert) and Guadeloupe.
Marie-Galante (Pinchon).
Greater Antilles.
From southern United States to Brazil (C. a. medor Cramer).
