Bruchidae

[R] Phytophagous insects of the order Coleoptera, mostly feeding on seeds of Leguminosae; eggs laid on pods, larvae working their way into the seeds where they will complete their development.
Many Bruchidae have become cosmopolitan, travelling with seed stocks, and are economically important pests. Major pests include the pea weevil (Bruchus pisorum), the bean weevil (B. rufimanus), the lentil weevil (B. signaticornis) and the common bean weevil (Acanthoscelides obtectus).
