Xylophagous


[R] Feeding on wood. Refers more precisely to the insects which bore into the branches and trunks of trees.
Examples are found in the following families_: Sesiidae and Cossidae (Lepidoptera), Cerambycidae, Buprestidae Curculionidae and Scolytidae (Coleoptera), Tenthredinidae (Hymenoptera).
