Mammalia, Mammals


[R] Terrestrial vertebrates with skin covered with hairs; embryo developing within the mother's placenta. Homeothermy (regulation of the body temperature) is more or less complete, certain species hibernating. Young are fed upon the milk of their mother until weaned.
Some herbivorous or granivorous mammals are important pests of crops and fruit trees. Belonging to this category are the wild boar (Sus scrofa), Rodents, the Mole (Talpa europaea), the hare (Lepus europaeus), the rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus), the Cervidae, etc.
