Prolegs


[R] Abdominal limbs of lepidopterous larvae and sawfly larvae caterpillars and larvae of Hymenopterous Symphyta; prolegs of lepidopterous larvae and sawfly caterpillars provided with crochets.
Larvae of sawflies possess 6 to 9 pairs of prolegs, except in the Pamphiliidae, which lack such abdominal limbs. Prolegs are always less numerous in lepidopterous larvae.
