[R]Description
Brown spots on the root surface in the proximity of the collar.
In this area cortical crusts with a scaly aspect occur.
The affected foot is soft and the leaves wilt.
The lesions caused by this fungus can develop rot.

[R]Biology
The disease is seed-borne and can also be transmitted by straw.
The fungus produces pycnidiospores which release brown pycnidia .
disseminated by the wind or the rain.
The infected plants yield dwarfed grains.

[R]Epidemiology
Infection is facilitated by high RH (>80%) and a temperature range between 15 - 25 °C.

Disinfect the soil.
Use treated seeds.
Apply treatment during the vegetation cycle.
